Good Advice

I was reading Dip Dip & The Bridge's blog and I found once again I was happy to see some random sketches they made.  They reminded my Momma about how she used to sketch more often and with a busy life getting in the way - things that brought her joy (besides me, heh, heh) -- seemed backed into a corner. Now Momma admits that she is not a good 'sketcher' (not by any means) to compare to Dip, Elliot and Bridge's Momma - who is undoubtedly extremely talented (painting and making Mini Mes too!) - but - it's like she told a friend not too long ago...
They were talking about how Momma and Daddy like to Karaoke in the living room sometimes until 1am - just for fun.  And the friend said they hated singing because they were so very, very bad at it.   Momma and Daddy reminded the friend that one doesn't have to be 'good at something' to enjoy doing it.  The fun is in the 'journey' sort of speak.  Singing even if you are terrible, sketching - even if you can't draw, dancing - even if you look like a  chicken.  The point is to enjoy life, the little things, the big things, on the way there, and on the way back and when there's nothing left, enjoy the memory of how good you felt while doing them.  And when my Momma drew this of me, she enjoyed it and felt good about it.

Thanks Dip, Bridge and Elliot's Momma for reminding us to stop, breathe and enjoy.

  2. What a gorgeous drawing, such expressive eyes. I think you are very talented! It really is about how something makes you feel inside, I have done lots of pictures where the perspective is insane and the colours are all wrong and they still make me smile. It would be great if you will join me in Saturday sketch sometime.
    Thanks for the lovely compliment.

    1. Thank you kindly - it was drawn with watercolour paint when I was only a few months old and my fur and skin looked somewhat of a pink-beige. My ears were not yet in their upright position -- in fact they just flipped a tiny bit on the tips. My Momma will have to post some puppy photos of me sometime. :o)

  3. That's a really good drawing anyway! The eyes are great as Lynne says! And so is the whole face. In fact, so is the whole thing! Perhaps our owner will have to have a go too!
But honestly, we really do thing that watercolour (at least we think it's watercolour) is fantastic!

  4. Oh yes, we meant to say that those are two of Dip's nick-names. Our youngest human brother started calling her monkey-face when we first got her and you wouldn't know it from that cute little face but she is incredibly vicious, BOL. Mum always says 'she is like a bloody piranha!'

    1. Oh My - my brother Monkey is like a little demon. We call him a mini-rottweiler because of his markings and wrinkled nose and at times, crazy little monkey or tasmanian devil. Actually, he looks a little like Dip!- and his mother too. And so because his nose is flatter, when he gets mad, it gets all wrinkled up and looks very funny. He gets mad if you move him while he's sleeping or if you walk past while he's eating or if he steals my things and I try to get them back. Monkey bites!! WOOF.

  8. Great art does make you remember the finer things in life, doesn't it? And by finer things I mean the things you cannot buy with all the money in the world, of course. Thanks for sharing.
